Who is ESCA?

Educational Sciences Corporation of America
ESCA is team of degreed professionals with many years experience in the fields of aerospace, computer science, physics, humanities and Vedic Astrology. Since 1983, ESCA has been doing research in computer-generated Vedic astrology systems.

ESCA uses the most advanced techniques of artificial intelligence, expert systems and high level computer programming languages to research and develop Vedic astrology based systems, reports and reference works, both written and computerized.

The majority of the staff of ESCA are experts in the field of aerospace and physics, as well as Vedic astrology. Many precise formulas, computer algorithms and data are used in ESCA systems and ESCA printed materials. The creation of much of ESCA's innovative work is based upon information derived from the databases of some of the most advanced astrophysics research facilities in the world. Many of the formulas we use are the same as those used in major satellite launches and space probes. In addition, the astronomical data used has been verified via data gathered from over 200 astronomical observatories around the world. Our astronomical calculations are extremely accurate.

In all, ESCA produces reports, computer tools, printed materials, and books that aid practitioners of Jyotish, both students and practicing professionals. An example is the Sidereal Ephemeris and Jyotish Panchanga, which is explained below.

Calendar (1 page)
Monthly calendar containing dates and local times of all lunar phase and eclipse events.

Quickscan (1/2 page)
Summary of planet, moon and lunar node sidereal rasi varga sign or nakshatra locations for each day at 12:00 AM local time. Retrograde motion is indicated by an underline. Planets, moon and lunar nodes are ordered by their relative positions within each sign.

Ephemeris (1/2 page)
Sidereal rasi varga sign positions of planets, moon and lunar nodes for each day at 12:00 AM local time. Positions are presented in terms of signs and offsets into signs.

Panchanga (3 1/2 pages)
Traditional Vedic astrology (jyotish) ephemeris giving the local times of sidereal rasi varga sign, nakshatra, pada, tithi, karana and nitya yoga transits of the moon. The local times for sun rise and sun set for each day are adjusted for the specific city's location in the ephemeris.

Lunar Phase and Eclipse Data ( 1/4 page)
Local times of lunar phases for the month. The following additional information is provided if an eclipse occurs during a full moon and/or a new moon. The times for lunar eclipse phases are adjusted according to the rise and set times of the moon for the location of the ephemeris.

  • Local times for eclipse start, end and maximum phase
  • Magnitude at time of maximum phase and obscuration factor (solar eclipse only)
  • Extended local times of entry and exit for each phase of the eclipse
  • Terrestrial locations associated with each phase of the eclipse (solar eclipse only)

Almanac (1/4 page)
Astronomical information applicable to selected days of the month at 12:00 AM local time. Local apparent sidereal time is adjusted for the location of the ephemeris.

  • Gregorian day of Month: Mean to apparent solar time factor
